Responsive: Design Process 2 - Development

I put the logo which I had adapted to the range with a white background as the colour wasn't going to stand out amongst the dark background. I didn't feel it worked very well and now I was using the strip I thought I could put the loop around that instead.

This looked cleaner and didn't disrupt the logo. I felt there branding colour wasn't particularly strong for this night theme so I tried created the shape from the band. Placing it was going to be important because it wasn't legible when place over the sparkle.

I tried the fonts I had sourced in my research for the names of the different shampoos.

I tried I lighter and heavier weighted typeface that I felt was most legible but still had the right characteristics. I placed it within an oval with swirling edge so it was similar to there original packaging but incorporated the cosmic space atheistic.

I wrote up a description for the back of the information which explains the product to the consumer and spread out the other information so it was clear where the information would be placed on the packaging.

I altered the oval shape as I felt it looked more like a brush stroke, I added a blur to the edge and then to add more information to explain that it had the sparkle feature, which is it's USP, I added a ring around the oval.

I realised I needed to make it clear on the front that this product was for night time and created party ready hair. I added the phrase 'NIGHT' to the branding identity so the range was clarified for its purpose and explained the darkness of this atheistic to it's other products.

The product spread across the other size packaging.

MOCK UPS - I started mocking the design up on a can to see how it looked, the placement wasn't, it was to hight up, when I moved it down it become illegible and it wasn't fitting right on the front. I referred back to there packaging and realised the logo needed to be larger. I did this and then moved the product description down to the bottom so that the logo was the main feature and the eyes followed the glitter down to the information.

I tried rearranging the description to see if it would work better with the information through the middle. It didn't work as well I felt so kept it as it was.

New mock up: I changed the lid to black so it worked with the whole atheistic and would make it stand out amongst the other products they have as well as really push the idea of nighttime Batiste. The night wasn't standing out against the photography even with a black outline so I removed it to make it more clear and placed it along the top so there is no more added description making the front messy. This makes it more clear and obvious from afar.
