Responsive: Design Process 2 - Secret 7"

About Secret 7''Secret 7’’ is a project that combines music and art. After their success in 2012 the team are back with a new line up of artists, a new set of tracks and a new charity partner.

The Brief:

Secret 7’’ are inviting creatives from around the globe to take inspiration from Jessie Ware's track, Still Love Me
and design an original 7 inch vinyl sleeve.

Between 30-50 winners will be selected. One copy of each design will be produced and exhibited in East London for over a week in April.

The project culminates on Record Store Day when the 700 one-of-a-kind vinyl will be available to purchase, with all of the profits going to the charity Art Against Knives.

None of the buyers will know who created the sleeve, or even which song it's for, until they are holding it in their hands - the secret lies within.

I listened to the song and looked at the lyrics of the song.
From a photograph I created a vector image using a colour palette sourced from the original film photo.

This is the final image for the album uses a pop art style to demonstrate the surreal nature of the pop song and also takes on a similar nature in choice of characteristics in the imagery.
My submission on talent house. This was a quick brief which allowed a breadth of opportunity to produce what the brief required as well as explore my design choices. It has given me an addition to a range of different answers to briefs exploring different interests in styles and formats. This brief was incredibly open and allowed me to enter with self instruction and gave me freedom in my first competition to just answer it how I pleased. Although a challenge to decide and direct myself it was pleasant to be quick and decisive and got me to put my work out there for the first time publicly. Although scary I feel it was good to do a simple and personal brief as the first one as every entry will be directed entirely different and isn't commercial but original. This will give me confidence to enter my work into other competitions and live briefs as i've ripped off the bandied with something a bit silly and different to what I normally do.

I've also learnt not to write my name in the title on talent house..
