design practice: how to buy an engagement Ring

I started creating symbols on adobe illustrator for different sections of the website:

Likes/Dislikes

Using an image off google images i created a thumbs up and thumbs down hand to represent like and dislike.

I decided to try them reflecting each other so that image could be used easier besides a block of text like the other design for the diamond 4 C's designed by Sam.

Best for her hand

I then used a different hand shape to symbolise the section for thinking about what ring/diamond would be best for hand size. I tried different styles of it such as outline, fill, solid and open shape.

I tried a thicker line which i think fits in better with the diamond designs.

I also looked at a different hand style which was more detailed and compared the detailed against a simpler version.

Budget/Cost

I got various different symbols for money and turned them into pictograms. I looked at live tracing the actual image and tracing round them to see which would give a better symbol.

Loose Diamond

I created symbols experimenting with two different types of diamonds, one detailed and one an outline.

To represent the diamond coming loose i put it separate from the ring and created a empty space where'd it be. I played around with different size and width of ring and diamond.

Care

I used visual aids from google images to create a water droplet and soap suds. I again experimented with fill, outline and pt.

Trade associations

We wanted to include a list of the trade associations as its important that men contact them to find out about pricing of diamonds in the market. I googled trade association and the image of arrows came up so i decided to create a symbol connected to our brief and put arrows going round a diamond.

Final Decisions

I chose the most appropriate symbols i made for the style of the website and wrote the text in a informal manner addressed to men.

I added to cost talking about setting a budget and changed the symbol at the side in scale and repeated it down the side of the text as i feel it fits better and looks better atheistically.
